The Oregon Transportation Commission adopted the
OR 43: Sellwood Bridge Interchange Area Management Plan (IAMP),
as an amendment to the Oregon Highway Plan on May 13, 2010.
The OR 43: Sellwood Bridge IAMP was developed in conjunction with the Sellwood Bridge project, which is currently
in the late stages of the environmental review process. The Sellwood Bridge project includes replacement of the
Sellwood Bridge and reconstruction of the interchange with OR 43 (Macadam Avenue).
The IAMP reflects the preferred alternative identified by Multnomah County, the City of Portland, and Metro in
March 2009. The document discusses access management and local circulation issues and sets broad policy needed to
maintain safe and efficient traffic operations in the interchange area. It also identifies initial actions agreed
to by the City of Portland and ODOT to resolve access management and local circulation problems resulting from the
preferred project alternative. After the bridge and interchange designs are finalized (probably in 2011), ODOT will
reassess these initial solutions to ensure they are still the most suitable ones given updated traffic conditions.
If any changes in these solutions are recommended, ODOT and the City of Portland will engage affected property and
business owners to finalize specific circulation and access management decisions.
